Verizon is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our U.S. Non-income Tax Research and Planning team. The candidate should have solid knowledge of state and local non-income tax laws. Prior experience with issues impacting the telecommunications industry is a plus. The position will focus primarily on non-income taxes for the Verizon U.S. companies, and legal research specifically related to sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and other non-income and regulatory taxes. The ideal candidate will have experience that includes a mix of tax research, tax compliance, and tax controversy support, to identify and resolve complex tax research questions. The candidate will also be involved with new product launches and coordinating with various internal billing and payable systems and accounting teams to ensure accurate tax compliance. The position requires a strong business acumen, as well as being practical and solutions-oriented, with a willingness to help the business achieve its objectives while mitigating tax risks for the company.
Responsibilities include:
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Information Systems, or JD from an accredited law school, or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Extensive experience in a top law firm and/or public accounting firm, and/or equivalent in-house tax department experience.
Strong tax technical and tax research analysis skills.
Experience Microsoft Office and/or G Suite.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Master's degree in Taxation.
Proven ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and thrive in a fast-paced work environment, including the ability to identify issues, develop creative solutions, and implement them effectively.
Must be a strong team player, while also independently exercising sound judgment.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills, adaptive to and effective for different audiences.
Specific experience with telecommunications tax issues.
Intellectually curious, strong work ethic, and a desire to work through challenges and complex issues.
Strong people leadership skills with the ability to develop personnel, both technically and as future leaders.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
