San Diego County’s Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT) is hiring a Training Coordinator for a 32-hour/week position that includes healthcare and other great benefits.

PERT is a nationally recognized program where licensed clinicians partner with law enforcement to respond to individuals in behavioral health crises. In addition to field response, PERT provides cutting-edge crisis intervention and de-escalation training to officers, dispatchers, and fire/EMS personnel. Our training is POST and STC certified, aligning with the County’s commitment to excellence in first responder education.

Hours : 32 hours per week; Monday – Friday. Work schedule to be determined at the program level.

Pay Rate : $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

Education : High School diploma/GED required

As a PERT Training Coordinator, you will:

  • Coordinate training events and needs for PERT Academy and PERT Administrative Office.
  • Secure training venues, rental equipment and catering.
  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute training calendar.
  • Maintain inventory of training equipment resources.
  • Facilitate training events as an Instructor in field of expertise
  • Review and update curriculum and training modules to ensure that courses are meeting standards and needs of the PERT Training program
  • Manage the RELIAS online training system for staff regarding CRF training requirements.
  • Liaise between PERT staff and the Central Office training support team as well as being the first point of contact for any RELIAS or live event.
  • Work collaboratively with the PERT leadership and administration team to accomplish objectives as needed

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • At least two years of office experience required; previous law enforcement experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Peace Officer Standards and Training strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in a training role preferred
  • Experience in event planning, marketing and training coordination
  • Demonstrated professional level of organizational and communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office
  • A valid California driver’s license in good standing, personal vehicle, proof of insurance and eligibility to be an approved CRF driver is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position
  • Ability to pass criminal/background clearance

PERT contributes to the well-being of individuals with mental illness by actively and compassionately assisting individuals in crisis who come to the attention of law enforcement to access appropriate services and to optimize outcomes through on-scene assessments and referrals.
